Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is an absorbed, focused state of attention and control. It is a natural state of mind/body connection that bypasses the limitations of the conscious, thinking mind and magnifies the abilities of the subconscious mind.  The hypnotic zone is something that people NATURALLY go into all the time, typically without conscious awareness.  Examples include: Absorption in a book, movie, or music; artistic endeavors (drawing, dancing, writing, singing, ceramics, photography, etc.); athletic activities (running, weightlifting, jump shooting, pitching, ice skating, javelin throwing, anything and everything that requires focus and concentration); knitting, woodworking, daydreaming, AND highway hypnosis (driving from point A to point B and not knowing how you got there).  The list of absorbing, focusing activities that people experience is seemingly endless and is characterized by not only a focused state of control, but a feeling of comfort, confidence, and timelessness.

Hypnotherapy guides people into their peak performance zone. The above examples illustrate this naturally occurring zone people routinely experience.  In therapy this zone, or therapeutic trance state, can be readily accessed to create solutions, healing energies, new healthy patterns of behavior, and to reconnect people with their best, most authentic self.

It is thus most important to discuss the difference between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind in order to begin to understand the natural healing capacities of hypnosis.  The conscious mind is very competent at organizing, scheduling, and analyzing. It is, however, the part of the mind that OVER-thinks, self criticizes, OVER-analyzes, obsesses, ruminates, continually asks What-IF this, and Why-that…  The conscious mind is where stuckness grows, problems reside, and symptoms rule. It is, luckily, a very miniscule part of the totality of our mind. The excellent news is that the subconscious mind is a limitless, endless vault of learnings, potentials, dreams, creativity, resolutions, and healing energies.  It has a benevolent wisdom that only knows how to help us.  The subconscious mind enables people to get out of their own way, to maximize focus and performance.  It creates new perspectives, generates enhanced understandings, and promotes seamless behavioral change.Hypnotherapy is used to promote peak performance in the game of life. Hypnotherapy is an active, experiential therapy that creates positive change. Traditional therapy is akin to listening to a therapist talk about and show photos of her amazing trip to Hawaii.  Hypnotherapy will TAKE YOU THERE…allowing you to see, hear, smell, feel, to really EXPERIENCE the Hawaiian islands in all their splendor.
